I am loving this new project. I only wish I had the time to run with every idea. The inspiration for these images came from a stroll downtown in Portland. I went into this little antique shop and found a couple of doilies. My mind started to go crazy thinking about light and shapes. Not only that, but my heart got all warm and fuzzy thinking about my grandmother. :)
Do you ever find yourself wishing you had a camera or a notebook to document an experience, feeling or thought? Well, it happens to me all the time so I have decided to begin a personal project around that idea. The “Inspire Me” project will be my ongoing exploration of all things in my life manifested in photographs. At least once a week I’ll challenge my mind and my photography and share the product of my inspiration with you.
My kids are my greatest inspiration. I feel it fitting to have images of a gorgeous baby girl (although she is now six) start off the project. These images were taken three years ago while apple picking. We took so many photographs that day these just never received my full attention. It was funny to me when thinking about this project the first thing that came to mind were these images of her. I guess I am feeling a little nostalgic.

9-28-09 was a very special day in my family. My sister, Hannah, and her husband, Billy, gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Lily. I feel so fortunate to have been there to experience this awesome event, I am compelled to share their story. My sister had 3 miscarriages before Lily, two of them were devastating loses at around 6 months into her pregnancies. The second time she lost her baby was the day before my youngest sister gave birth to twins. In the 2.5 years that have gone by since then, 6 children have been born between me and my two other sisters. Hannah bravely and lovingly supported us through each pregnancy and birth. I don’t know how she did it. I am humbled by her strength. Lily is the miracle of never giving up hope. She is hope. And a whole lot of love. This little girl has no idea how many lives she has already touched. “Hannah, Billy and Lily, I love you so much!”
